We take on the role of the two “old folks” of Bonneville Builders. However, we prefer the term “experienced” as opposed to just old. Respectively, we take on the roles of vice president and treasurer of the company.
We were both born in Utah and transplanted to Lander at an early age when US Steel transferred our fathers here. We quickly made the welcomed metamorphosis from Utahans to Wyomingites. Richard went to Casper College where he received degrees in welding/metallurgy and mechanics, and also studied drafting. Shortly after college he accepted a job at a trona mine west of Green River, WY. He spent 30 years there and then retired.
Richard brings extra unique and specialized skills to Bonneville Builders. During his time in the mining industry he developed his skills as a fabricator, machinist, welder and mechanic, and received valuable experience in problem solving. He routinely performed maintenance miracles and was known many times to have accomplished something with nothing. After his tenure in the mining industry, Richard “retired” and took his experience to the oil field where he continued to perform amazing mechanical feats. He has in turn brought those skills to the construction industry, fabricating handrails, work benches, metal anchor braces for timber frames, and other custom projects.
Since the time of Richard’s retirement, he and Jerod had been mulling over the option of going into business for themselves. Richard says he always enjoys a challenge and Bonneville, having taken its name from a peak in the Wind River Mountains, sounded like it could be an epic adventure. Count us in!
